Service Opportunities
While we are in the depths of brokenness, it can be hard to imagine ever transforming our lives into a blessing for ourselves and the world. B2B encourages service work, not only as a treatment for brokenness but also to give participants the joy of living into their unique purpose.
When you come for a retreat, you can choose from different service opportunities that match your interests and abilities. Some help in the kitchen, some help care for the Mission Farm’s animals or garden, sometimes there is a building project to do as a team such as when we restored an old shed into a secure, all weather chicken coop or when we built the center’s two fire pits. For those uniquely talented, we may collaborate to develop workshops for art, writing, music, or storytelling. The possibilities are endless.
Program Participants need not wait for a retreat to begin trying out ways to serve. Mike and Todd’s careers were steeped in recruiting, training and managing volunteers and themselves have volunteered hundreds of hours in various community activities. To date they have used their experience to link B2B participants with service opportunities in their hometowns such as libraries, Meals on Wheels programs, mentoring, child advocacy and senior care.
