The B2B Mission Farm

The B2B Mission Farm and Retreat Center, nestled in the rolling hills of Kentucky, is a place for study, reflection, practicing kindness and performing acts of service.

Accommodations at the Retreat Center are welcoming and relaxing.  The cabin, with its loft and wrap-around porch, has a wood burning stove and is attached to the main house.  In addition to sleeping in the cabin, we offer three private bedrooms: one with a king bed and attached bath; one with a queen bed and sunrise views; and a third more contemplative room with a twin bed.  Always an option, some participants have brought tents to camp under the stars.  Although part of our vision, our bathrooms are not yet handicap accessible.

Home cooked meals are served in our cabin’s county style dining room.  Just like most homes, guests often gather in our modern kitchen for conversation over fresh coffee or tea.  The adjacent family room offers a fireplace and TV for streaming movies or watching the game.  First floor laundry is available if needed.

There is plenty of paved parking near the entrance and fenced in yards for pets.  Not only is the facility B2B’s retreat center, but it is also our home.

Mike, Todd, Molly and Tigger (the cats), Lucky and Misha (the small dogs) hope you’ll enjoy the place as much as we do.

B2B’s 21-acre Mission Farm and Retreat Center is 5 miles southwest of Irvine, Kentucky.  Our Estill County motto is “Where the Blue Grass kisses the Mountains.”  As such, the property is rolling hills surrounded by mountain views.

There is a pond stocked with bass and blue gill for those who like to fish or swim; 1.5 miles of wooded and prairie trails down to Crooked Creek and back for those who like to hike; a shooting range for those who want some target practice; and two fire pits for those who like to enjoy stories and eat smores.  We also have a barn and chicken coop for those wishing to try out a little farming experience.  Haven’t tried it yet, but we’re sure a couple of our hills would be perfect for sledding.

If all that, and reading, relaxing, or even helping in the kitchen aren’t enough; across the road and up a piece is Peter Mountain where our neighbor and friend allows B2B guests to hike.  A five-minute drive east is Lilly Mountain Nature Preserve for foliage, wildflowers and bird watching.  Five minutes in the other direction gets you to Irvine, the county seat, for shopping and restaurants.  Twenty minutes west is big city shopping and Eastern Kentucky University’s sports arenas.  Twenty-five minutes north from there is Lexington where you’ll find the airport, horse racing, theaters, and everything else any big city offers.

The Retreat Center and Lilly Mountain are just a taste of the beautiful wilderness that is Eastern Kentucky.  While here, you may want to visit nearby Natural Bridge State Park or the Red River Gorge scenic area of the Daniel Boone National Forest.  There is also a Civil War fort, Daniel Boone’s original settlement, or Berea College’s Loyal Jones Appalachian Center to tour.

If all that ends up being too much for you, don’t worry. There is an Emergency Room hospital five minute away and a full service hospital 25 minutes away in Richmond, KY.
